Created open-source software packages for modeling (1) environmental time series and (2) the fate of inorganic contaminants in water
Contributed research insights to Halifax Water’s corrosion control program, resulting in lower levels of toxic lead in drinking water and prolonged infrastructure life
Detected a lead polyphosphate complex in drinking water using a purpose-built method; the USEPA and others had warned about these complexes for years, but this was among the first detections in real drinking water
Showed that sodium silicate was not a viable corrosion control treatment for lead, despite its mention in many corrosion control manuals for that purpose—a finding which will avoid wasted resources, and, potentially, elevated lead in drinking water
